Noisy Neighbor?

We like to maintain Collegiate Court as a quiet, studious environment. Rules and Regulations stipulate Quiet Hours from 10pm to 9am nightly. During these hours, noise shall not be audible outside your room. Beyond these hours, we ask that tenants respect the property and keep noise to a reasonable level as to not disturb other residents.

Most of the time, these rules are respected.

But, what do you do if you have a noisy neighbor in the room next door?

Often times, they simply don't know they are being noisy. Maybe they just moved in, and aren't aware, or perhaps they just bought a new speaker and don't know it's effects on others in the building.

WHAT TO DO:

If someone is disrupting you, please take the following steps:

1) Kindly, explain to them that they are disturbing you and tell them what they could do to remedy the situation. If you are introverted, like me, and don't want to risk confrontation, leave them a nice note. The keyword here is NICE. Keep it friendly and they will respect you. Explain what time of day and what they were doing that disturbed you. Leave your name and phone number so they can text you with questions. Get to know your neighbors!

2) If they do not respect your suggestions, you may then contact your manager. Your manager will issue them a 10-Day Notice to Comply with the Lease. They will have 10 days to remedy their noise issue or they may be evicted. This is a last resort. This is very harsh and should be avoided if possible.

WHAT NOT TO DO:

~Don't contact your manager on the first offense. Give the noisy neighbor the benefit of the doubt, or leave a note. If the situation doesn't improve, then you can contact your manager.

~Don't approach the noisy neighbor with anger. They probably don't know they are causing a disruption. And they probably don't want to be causing a disruption, either.
